Simon Williams Shows Off His Amazing Powers Before His MCU Debut

IsWest Coast AvengersUshering in Wonder Man’s Comics Comeback?

WhileWonder Manis being billed as ameta comedy that takes the MCU to Hollywood, his latest Marvel Comics appearance just made it clear that his powers can get very serious.Wonder Man’s ionic energy powers granted him extraordinary abilities and strength that apparently made him on par with characters like Thor, Captain Marvel, and the Sentry, and his MCU counterpart should follow suit.

Even if Wonder Man was gravely injured by the Scorched Ultron, turning him into an explosive, the character luckily has been able to come back from similar situations in the past. While Simon’s ionic energy was dispersed after a major sacrifice years ago,the hero’s connection to the Scarlet Witchhelped him come back to life with magical assistance. With the character set to make his big MCU debut, it’s hard to imagine that Marvel would want Simon benched for too long. Wonder Man is an iconic West Coast Avenger, and the team’s latest series could seriously use his firepower.

While Ultron’s attack inWest Coast Avengersliterally blew the character up,the explosion proved Wonder Man’s raw power, and could lead to him gaining a new level of control over his ionic-powered abilities. The character has been more of a pacifist than other heroes, but if his upcoming series provides a faithful adaptation of the character, Simon could still be the MCU’s next true superstar, and he should have a major Marvel Comics comeback in tandem.

Both Simon and Eric Williams will appear in the MCU’sWonder Man, and though the series seems to be keeping it low-key, their comic counterparts prove that they’re adding real heavy-hitters to the franchise.
