The LCS lock in tournament was introduced at the start of the 2021 season amongst the heavy changes to the league’s format and schedule. Despite the LCS reverting back to its original format, the league decided to keep the lock in tournament after positive fan and player reception.

The tournament format is the same as 2021, two groups of five will kick off the event and will then move on to a playoff. Starting with Group A, this group has far more variance given the strength of the teams. The 2021 summer champions 100 Thieves will face stiff competition from the likes of Cloud9 and TSM. Unfortunately for the two latter sides, they are unlikely to field their starting rosters due tovisa issues.

The four-time LCS champions have put together a star-studded roster. At the centre of it, arguably the leagues best player in Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg. Team Liquid is expected to be playing with their intended roster and should be heavy favorites out the gate.
