Tekken 8’s latest patch brings two summer-themed DLC packs, photo mode upgrades, and more. But fans are debating whether the new outfits are truly “unique.”
An insane Armor King trailer at EVO, a tease of brand new character Miary Zo, and now official unique summer swimsuits in Tekken Patch v.2.04? Bandai Namco appear to have been cooking. However, Tekken 8 fans are curious just how “unique” the new outfits really are.
Tekken 8 Patch v2.04 which drops on Aug. 5, contains no balance changes but instead focuses on quality of life upgrades to practice modes and data presentation.
Tekken Patch v.2.04 - Swimsuit DLC
The primary new content of Patch v.2.04 is two DLC bundles; Seaside Pack and Beach Fun Pack. The official swimwear DLCs adds an outfit for 36 characters, with only Kuma and Panda missing out.
The outfits are tied to that specific character, and Bandai Namco clarified that future character releases will not be added to the DLC.
If you’re a PC user and familiar withTekken 8 mods, realistically these 2 packs are unlikely to excite you. Console players however, might be tempted.
Compared to last summer’s Vacation Pack and Diva Pack though, these swimsuit outfits are fairly basic, especially for the female characters. A stark contract to the attention to detail Capcom has given in theirOutfit 4 DLC for Street Fighter 6, releasing on the exact same day.

One modder on social media UMIN also claimed thatonly 2-3 mesheswere used to create all of the new swimwear Tekken 8 outfits. This was also noticed by users on X, who pointed out how Reina’s head didn’t seem to match her body and that she looked like “a cheap mannequin”.
Color Mask added - Unleash the memes
At first glance, the Color Mask Adjustment feature coming in Tekken v2.04 may seem trivial, but it’s actually a game changer. This will allow you to set the background color of your photo taken to any color you wish in Practise and Versus Mode. Say for example, a green screen background. Now you’ll be able to export the images to make memes to your heart’s delight. Or some really sick wallpapers.
*Added Filter Function to Photo Mode– Added a “Color Mask Adjustment” option to the filter function.– Allows the background color to be changed to a specified color.
Tekken Patch v.2.04: Additional new features
Outside of the new Tekken Shop items. and Color Mask, there were a few other notable changes in Patch v2.04.
The next Tekken 8 patch, version 2.05, is set to be released in September and will “primarily focus on bug fixes and related improvements”.
