Rob Loweis heading into a brand new decade with confidence!

While having trepidation about a milestone birthday can be the norm, Lowe admitted he’s “never felt better” about getting closer to his golden years.

“Luckily, I’ve had some time as the run-up,” he said. “I love the milestone birthdays, because it really is an opportunity to reflect and to think about where you want to go.”

“I’m so humbled and grateful that I have never had more things that are interesting to me going on in my life. Never felt better. My relationships and every level, I’m in the pocket and this is exactly the way I want to go into my next decade,” he added.

In terms of what he has to look forward to in his later years, theParks & Recreationalum said “there’s a lot.”

Last month, the actor told PEOPLE of the lifestyle changes he’s adopted in order to remain in peak condition as he gets older.

“I feel better than I’ve ever felt. And I think part of it is because I’m more cognizant of self-care. I’m as strong as I’ve ever been,” he shared. “I remember being intimidated turning 40. I remember being intimidated turning 50, and this is no difference. And just like those milestones, the closer I get, the better I feel about it.”

In terms of his goals for his 60s? Lowe revealed that he’d like to stay active without getting injured. He noted how he’s been trying to find the balance between “longevity and consistency” and “non-injury and pushing myself as hard as I ever did.”

“The challenge for me is a day off means a day off but I want to continue to do stuff,”The West Wingactor said. “I really have to push myself to say, ‘No, no, this is the day where it’s okay to sit on the couch and watch football.’ I love a good sauna, I love the cold plunge, and I’ve become reacquainted with the value of just a long walk, which I used to think was a waste of time, and I now know differently.”
