Not a surprise, but still a bummer

In a recentinterview with GameSpot,Tekkenseries director Katsuhiro Harada confirmed thatTekken X Street Fighter, the long-time-coming sister title to 2012’sStreet Fighter X Tekkenis no longer in active development. He stopped short of saying the game was cancelled. Instead, Harada cited the excitement over the soon to be releasedTekken 7and a desire not to split that community between two games, saying “a good window in which to releaseTekken X Street Fighteris something that’s become difficult recently. So it’s on hold for the moment.”

As long ago as 2014, Haradahas insistedTekken X Street Fighterwas “pretty far stage in its development” keeping the dream alive. From where I’m standing, saying the game is “on hold” right now might as well be “Tekken X Street Fighterhas gone to live in a big farm up north with a bunch of other cross-over titles!” Too bad for fans who were excited to Hadoken in the third dimension.
