PC Game Pass users are having issues withMonster Hunter Risefollowing the multiplayer action-adventure game’s launch last night.Monster Hunter Riseis one of the biggest early 2023 releases for Xbox Game Pass. It’s been highly anticipated since its announcement in December 2022. Yet there have been inklings of issues with the Xbox app on PC’sMonster Hunter Riseports even before the game launched, and now those issues have come to fruition.
One big point of frustration among PC Game Pass users leading intoMonster Hunter Rise’s launch for the subscription service is that Capcom chose not to implement cross-play with other PC players (or PlayStation, for that matter). That means that PC gamers who have friends playing theSteam version ofMonster Hunter Risewon’t be able to play with them. PC Game Pass users do have cross-play enabled with Xbox players, but there were concerns that Capcom wasn’t prioritizing the concerns of PC Game Pass users.

Perhaps the most concerning error being reported reads as, “Game cannot be launched because it was not purchased with the game account.” This could be related to the use of Xbox accounts or more specifically PC Game Pass subscription accounts. Either way, it indicates an issue withbringingMonster Hunter Riseto PC Game Pass, in general, and raises questions regarding whether Capcom needed more time before launching the game for the subscription service.
Whether the technical issues withMonster Hunter Riseon PC Game Pass are due to Capcom or Xbox, all that really matters is that they’re solved so they either are all fixed or at least impact very few overall players.
