Overwatch 2’s new Lifeweaver controls
Overwatch 2 will update Lifeweaver’s controls in next week’s patch on April 25 thanks to the feedback that the Overwatch 2 team received after Lifeweaver’s debut. A lot of players noted the awkwardness in swapping between healing and damage. Additionally, players disliked Petal Platform on alternate fire.
Here’s the new default control scheme going forward:
The original Lifeweaver controls will still be available for players as well.

The game will also update a few of Lifeweaver’s abilities. Blizzard announced that they will apply the slow effect on his heal after charging. Additionally, they will buff the Tree of Life ultimate and remove the Parting Gift passive from the character.
Here’s the overview of Lifeweaver’s upcoming changes:
“We think that streamlining the kit by reworking the weapon swap and removing Parting Gift, along with a more fluid control scheme, will make Lifeweaver a little easier to pick up and understand, and elevate him into a much better position,” Overwarch 2 game director Aaron Keller explained.
Inhis post, Keller also went into how Lifeweaver has a complex set of abilities. Compared to other characters, this hero design is a bit different.

For example, in the past, the developers createdHanzo and Genjias a way to spread complex abilities between more than one hero. Keller then acknowledged that there are also a lot of players who are excited about Lifeweaver’s kit.
“While we won’t make every Overwatch hero this complex, we think there’s room to make more heroes like Lifeweaver in the future,” he said.
