This is the first time there has ever been an ALGS LAN event in Asia. Apex Legends has remained hugely popular in the region, and this is reflected in the ticket sales for the event.

The previous record for ALGS tickets was set in Los Angeles, but according to EA staff, Sapporo will have three times the audience than that event.

ALGS Champs in Sapporo is set to be the biggest event in ALGS history

There was huge demand for an ALGS LAN event to be held in Asia ever since the ALGS started. Events have pinged between Europe and North America over the previous four years. However, things finally aligned for the event to be held in Asia for the first time.

EA’s Jasmine Chaing told esports.gg back in Julythat their reaction upon seeing the venue was “Oh my God, this is it.”

The event aligns also with the games six year anniversary, and will wrap up a hugely successful year of ALGS competition. The gap between events was filled by another successful series, the BLGS, that has kept the ball rolling for Apex competitors.

New record for ALGS attendees

Now, EA have revealed that the ALGS Year 4 Championship is set to break records for attendees. This will hopefully be reflected in overall viewership for the event too.

It was clear very early on that this event was the subject of huge interest. Tickets flew off the shelves, with the ALGS team having to make more avaliable. There are still tickets remaining, meaning the number of attendees may further exceed the 30,000 mark.
