My Hero Academia’s Class 1-A has some of the most powerful and dangerous fighters to have ever been enrolled in U.A. High. From theusefulness of Deku’s various Quirkshelping him destroy entire mountains to the versatility of Yaoyorozu’s Creation, there are few characters in the franchise who can oppose these virtuous heroes.

Yet, there is a character who, despite his enormous potential, was never fully able to prove himself, and that is Denki Kaminari. Despite not being among thesmartest characters in the series, Class 1-A’s resident jokester could have become a deadly weapon. Only his morals and the plot kept him from being a terrifying opponent.

Kaminari from My Hero Academia

Denki Is Far More Dangerous Than Fans Realize

His Electric Shocks Could Easily Kill an Opponent

Despite being among the few students chosen to enroll in the prestigious U.A. High, manymembers of the beloved Class 1-Awere never allowed to truly shine throughout theMy Hero Academiaseries. Denki Kaminari, also known as Chargebolt, is perhaps among the most underrated, mostly due to his role as a comedic relief character.

However, behind his friendly smile, Denki was objectively among the most dangerous students in the series, all thanks to the raw power of his Quirk, Electrification. While it’s true that Kaminari never demonstrated mastery over his ability as the series progresses, this does not mean that electrical shocks at his level couldn’t easily kill a human.

Kaminari’s strongest attack, the 2 million volts indiscriminate discharge.

Denki’s most powerful attack was a 2 million-watt discharge, more than eight thousand times the necessary amount for a person to die. Even taking into account that the effectiveness of his attacks was reduced by traveling across non-conductive surfaces, it was only Kaminari’s heroic spirit that prevented him from killing some ofMy Hero Academia’s strongest villains.

Kaminari Was Sadly Overlooked by the Plot

The Series Did Not Develop His Powers Properly

Even though the impact of theMy Hero Academiafranchise on the Shōnen genre is undeniable, it struggled with developing most of its supporting cast. Denki was among the most affected by this trend, with the times when he is most important to the story being few and far between.

On most occasions, the use of his Quirk left the boy out of commission for the rest of the battle, making it virtually impossible to improve in any significant way. Denki’s control over his discharges did increase as the series progressed, but he was left behind bythe most powerful charactersall the same.

Denki Kaminari From My Hero Acadmia Short Circuited

By the time he had become an effective and dangerous weapon against the villains, the story was near its end, and only a handful of characters remained relevant. Kaminari would never have become a lethal weapon against villains, as he was too kind-hearted. Nonetheless, seeing him rise into one of Class 1-A’s powerhouses would have been quite impressive.
