Mega Mawile is finally coming back to Pokémon GO in Mega Raids. We last saw this Pokémon back in October 2024 when it debuted in a special Raid Day. You can encounter Mega Mawile in Raids from April 21 until May 1.

Mega Mawile is a strange proposition in Pokémon GO. It is a very useful Pokémon to have in your collection, but not because it is powerful. As a Raid attacker, Mega Mawile is, bluntly, terrible. However, when advanced to Level 3 Mega Pokémon provide candy, candy XL and XP bonuses for their respective typing. As a Fairy and Steel-type, Mega Mawile provides great coverage and no other Pokémon hit both of these typings.

That will be especially relevant ahead ofPokémon GO Fest 2025, with Mega Mawile providing a boost for catching both Zamazenta and Zacian in their new powerful forms. Get this Mega Pokémon to Mega Level 3 as fast as you can.

Primal Groudonis the absolute best Pokémon to take on Mega Mawile with. It is a very powerful Pokémon that hits both of Mega Mawile’s weaknesses. Then, some other powerful Pokémon are Legendaries we have seen in the game recently, which is helpful.

Blacephalonwas just in Five-Star Raids, after making its shiny debut. This is a great option to use here. In addition, Reshiram is another top counter. We saw a lot ofReshiramback in February and early March thanks to theUnova Tourevent in Pokémon GO. All Reshiram caught during this event had its powerful legacy move, Fusion Flare, which you need for it to be a top counter. Also in the Unova Tour event wasTherian Forme Landoruswhich is also a great option.

EvenHeatran, another strong counter, was in Raids at the end of March too. You could also useShadow Heatran, if you saved one from Giovanni.
