The Valleymay only be in its second season, butJanet Caperna is already becoming one of the best reality TV villainsin years with a moral compass more devious than Kristen Doute and a tendency for gossip stronger than Jax Taylor’s. Janet, a friend of the group who were originally onVanderpump Rules, had beenaround reality TV before becoming part of it. As a noted friend of Scheana Shay’s prior toThe Valleyseason 1, Janet’s past with the cast has been said to be murky, but she appears to have become part of the larger group consensually.

Janet, married to Jason Caprena, spentThe Valleyseason 1 in the final months of her first pregnancy, which she mentioned frequently. While it was clear that she was pregnant throughout the filming of the first season,Janet still managed to make her way into every ounce of drama onThe Valley.Getting into a season-long fight with Kristen within the first episodes, Janet deflected drama from every available angle while gathering as much information as possible throughout the season. Her faux-innocence was shattered by the end of the season, leaving her raw villainy exposed forThe Valleyseason 2.

Janet’s able to make herself look like the victim in most situations while still maintaining control, which is far more believable coming from her.

Janet’s A Longtime Friend Of VPR’s OG Cast

She’s Been Said To Have Inserted Herself Into Their Lives

Janetmay be onThe Valleynow, but her relationships with the cast ofVanderpump Rulesexposed her to reality TV long before she was a part of it. While Janet has shared that she met Scheana in the past and the pair bonded over their divorces, Kristen has a somewhat different version of the story. According to Kristen,Janet was a fan ofVanderpump Ruleswho came to Los Angeles in the hopes of becoming friends with the cast. While Janet hasn’t necessarily refuted this, it’s something that apparently will come to be discussed inThe Valleyseason 2.

In an interview withDecider,Kristen explained"Janet was introduced to our friend group years and years ago as a fan of the show"and it was clear that her intentions were to become part of the group. Kristen wen on to say that Janet’s demeanor changed entirely onceThe Valleybegan filming, which isn’t always a good thing for the sake of the show.“The Janet that I had been very close to pre-Season 1 is not the person that I saw when the cameras went up,“Kristen revealed, making it clear thatJanet’s nature hasn’t been recently consistent.

Janet’s More Duplicitous Than Jax Taylor

She Lies More Often Than Not

ThroughoutThe Valley’sfirst season, Jax was one of the most difficult parts of the show to focus on. While he’s often given a reality TV villain masterclass when on screen, seeing him tear his life apart hasn’t been something that viewers have necessarily enjoyed, even though they’ve long been waiting for him to fall from grace. Even withthe hiccup of Jax’s life becoming a struggleas he’s moved through his current chapter, the way Janet has echoed Jax’s duplicitous nature onThe Valleyhas been fascinating.

While I’ve seen a lot of Janet that I don’t enjoy, I think her nature puts her in a completelydifferent capacity to be a reality TV villainthan even Jax. With an uncanny ability to lie and move through moments where she’s stirring the pot purposely with ease,Janet’s able to become more of a chameleon than Jax has ever been. While she’s always keeping those she’s looking to sabotage at the forefront, Janet’s able to make herself look like the victim in most situations while still maintaining control, which is far more believable coming from her.

Janet’s More Of A Disruptor Than Kristen Doute

She Knows How To Create Drama

Kristen’s one of my favorite reality TV personalities, but her ability to create drama is one of the most difficult to watch at times. While Kristen is great at what she does and delivers an authenticity to the way she portrays the typical reality TV villain, it can be incredibly difficult to see her be the disruptor in every situation. I’m partial to seeing Kristen happy, which doesn’t always happen when she’s the villain. Janet, who’s learned from Kristen, hasgained the ability to disrupt the norm within any situation onThe Valley, which has made her a great villain.

Watching Janet On The Valley Is Exciting

She May Not Be Well-Liked, But She Makes Great TV

As Janet comesinto a new season ofThe Valley, she’s carrying the same villainous energy that she had during its debut without the factor of her pregnancy coming into play. Seeing Janet diabolically question others about the person she’s got it out for (likely Kristen) or make circumstances seem more about her than they actually are is fascinating, albeit infuriating. As one of the more modern versions of the Bravo reality TV villain,Janet has taken things from other villains of the past and made the role her ownthus far onThe Valley.
