Don’t let your gear crumble to dust.
Over time, your weapons and gear will start to deteriorate and lose their strength in Oblivion Remastered. This is indicated by the “heart” icon next to the gear’s name in your inventory. As the number by the heart goes down, your gear loses its overall value and effectiveness. Fortunately, there is a way to repair your weapon and gear’s power in Oblivion Remastered.
Repairing a weapon or piece of gear essentially means you increase the number next to the heart back up to the maximum value of 100. Of course, as you continue to use the item, the number will start to go back down again, but you can keep repairing an item as much as you want. But first, you need to know how to repair weapons and gear and the caveats that come along with the process in Oblivion Remastered.

How to repair items in Oblivion Remastered
Let’s start with the basics. You can repair any weapon or piece of gear inOblivion Remasteredby using a Repair Hammer on the item. Repair Hammers are single-use items that you can acquire as loot all throughout the world of Cyrodiil. You can also purchase them from vendors, and they only cost a few gold to buy.
The hammers weigh a single pound and are used up each time you go to repair an item, so it’s worth carrying at least a few of them at a time in your inventory.

Repair Hammers are located in the Miscellaneous section of your inventory. To use one, simply click on it in the inventory and then follow these steps:

However, a massive caveat with the repair process in Oblivion Remastered is that the item you’re trying to repair has a chance to break. You can see the chance your item has to break by looking right underneath its image on the right side of the screen. As you can see in the screenshot below, my Iron Bow has a high chance of breaking if I try to repair it.
Items with a higher strength value have a higher chance of breaking, as they don’t need repairs as badly as items with a lower value. Still, all items you attempt to repair in Oblivion Remastered will have a chance to break, so verify you know the risk before you try and restore your favorite weapon or armor piece.

If you don’t want to use a Repair Hammer or don’t have one on hand, you can always visit a Smith in Oblivion Remastered. Smiths can repair one or all of your items for a small fee, and this doesn’t come with a chance of breaking the item you’re repairing. To use this service, talk to any Smith, choose the “Repair” icon at the bottom of the screen when speaking to them, and pay the gold price to repair your items.
