“We know Heroes of the Storm means a lot to so many of you, and we cannot thank you enough for the passion you continue to show this game after an entire decade.”
Heroes of the Storm, a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) featuring characters we know and love from Blizzard’s different franchises over the years, is having its 10-year anniversary. The game officially launched in 2015 and entered maintenance mode in 2022.

However, dedicated playershave continued to keep the game alive. To honor those who have made Heroes of the Storm so special, Blizzard is making all of the heroes free, giving everyone two new portraits, and releasing the Gear Head Thrall skin.
From now until Heroes of the Storm’s June 15 patch, players can log in and get a 10-year anniversary portrait plus a portrait representing the Nexus for free. There’s also the new Gear Head Thrall skin that’s available in the in-game shop for 1,500 Gems.

This special skin not only celebrates a decade of Heroes of the Storm but also pays tribute to the30-year legacy of the Warcraft franchise. Thrall is a beloved former Warchief from the Warcraft universe.
“And keep your eyes peeled — the Classic Games team is combing through the archives, searching for unreleased skins that would need some finishing touches for release, possibly bringing us more in the future,” Blizzard added.

In addition to the free anniversary portraits and the arrival of the new Thrall skin, all characters in the MOBA are free to play until the next patch on June 15. These heroes, of course, include the game’s own creations such as Orphea and Qhira.
“We know Heroes of the Storm means a lot to so many of you, and we cannot thank you enough for the passion you continue to show this game after an entire decade,” Blizzard stated.
