ThisAhsokaseason 2 theory suggests thatStar Warsmay be about to revisit a cut arc fromStar Wars: The Clone Warsthat I really wish we’d gotten to see.Ahsokaseason 2 is currently the only confirmed live-action project amongStar Wars’upcoming TV shows, which means plenty of attention is on the show.

Although fewdetails aboutAhsokaseason 2have been disclosed, severalreveals at Star Wars Celebration 2025were about the new season, including thatHayden Christensen is returning inAhsokaseason 2. In addition to that announcement and others that were made public, there was also exclusive imagery shown only to those in attendance at Celebration.

Since Star Wars Celebration, some of this imagery has been leaked online, which has sparked discussions about what this new season of the show could entail. Among those conversations is the possibility thatone fascinating story arc that was cut fromThe Clone Warscould be revisited inAhsokaseason 2.

Ahsoka Season 2 Uses A Surprisingly Familiar Design

Ahsoka Season 2’s Droids Seem To Share A Shocking Clone Wars Connection

As pointed out byDakDimensionson X,leakedAhsokaseason 2 imagery from Star Wars Celebration 2025 contains some familiar images. Specifically, the droids depicted in this imagery are identical to those that were originally going to be used inThe Clone Warsbut ultimately never were.

As noted in the same post, these droids, which will apparently play a role on Peridea inAhsokaseason 2, mirror the designs for the “kaiju droid” fromThe Clone Wars.

Ahsoka Tano looks up with a sneer on her face in the rain on Coruscant, with her lightsaber drawn.

Ultimately, that design was never used, as the entire arc was cut, but the original intention was for these droids to act as guards stationed in front of an ancient Sith shrine underground on Coruscant. While that story arc wasn’t explored, details about that plan have since been revealed, and they have thrilling implications forAhsokaseason 2.

What Would Have Happened In The Cut Clone Wars Sith Story?

This Unused Arc Would Have Revealed More Secrets Of The Sith

A greater emphasis on the Sith inThe Clone Warswould have been exciting, so it’s a shame this plan was scrapped, but we do know a bit about what this story would have entailed. Specifically, this arc would have revealed some ofthe secrets of the Sith, including via Sith holocrons (which were eventually depicted inStar Wars Rebels).

In the story, Master Yoda would have been lured to the depths of this Sith Temple by Darth Sidious, and Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker would have been among the Jedi to rescue him, with Ahsoka’s role being particularly key. Ultimately, this story would have ended with Yoda’s rescue and the destruction of the Sith temple.

Interestingly, while this wasn’t shown inThe Clone Wars, aspects of this were used later, as some of the designs for the Sith temple were implemented into Malachor inRebels. However, that show did not revisit the “kaiju droid” design. Now, it seems,Ahsokaseason 2 may be perfectly primed to do exactly that in a fascinating way.

Is Ahsoka Season 2’s Sith Connection A Deliberate Setup?

This Design Could Reveal More About What’s To Come In Season 2

One of the most intriguing aspects ofAhsokaseason 1 was the return ofthe Nightsisters of Dathomir. The Nightsisters were heavily featured inThe Clone Wars, not only because Asajj Ventress was herself a Nightsister by birth, but also because they had links to both the Jedi and the Sith.

Yet, following the vicious slaughter of the Nightsisters by General Grievous and his army, this mysterious group of dark side Force-users hadn’t been very prominent inStar Warsmovies and TV shows. That changed withAhsokaseason 1, however, which revealed that some Nightsisters were on Peridea alongside Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Star Wars- The Clone Wars - Poster

The Nightsisters have now returned to the mainStar Warsgalaxy with Thrawn, which could offer a connection between this cutClone Warsplot and the leakedAhsokaseason 2 imagery. Namely, the Nightsisters are ancient Force-users, and some have begun to suspectit may even have been the Nightsisters who established a dark side shrine on Coruscant.

While this may seem like a jump, the end credits of theAhsokashow suggest it may not be so far-fetched. In fact, Coruscant is among the planets shown on the map inAhsoka’send credits, which suggests the planet has a deeper significance to the show’s story than what has been shown so far.

Coruscant is among the planets shown on the map inAhsoka’send credits, which suggests the planet has a deeper significance to the show’s story.

Given the revelation that the Sith shrine’s guards from the scrappedClone Warsarc may be returning in some capacity inAhsokaseason 2 (at the very least, in design), it doesn’t feel outside the realm of possibility that this original plan for a Coruscant shrine could be reintroduced.

Of course, the imagery from Star Wars Celebration seemingly depicts the droids on Peridea—and that even seems to be Sabine fighting against them—but given the Nightsisters were previously on Peridea, that doesn’t negate the possibility of this connection. If anything, it could establish these droids as Sith (or dark side) shrine guards after all.

Ultimately, it will be interesting to discover what exactlyAhsokaseason 2 has in store regarding these droids. At present, some evidence suggests this scrappedStar Wars: The Clone Warsstory could be revisited in a new way inAhsokaseason 2, but for now, that remains to be seen.
