Gen.G cemented their status as a world-class team with their MSI 2025 win over T1. Now, they turn their focus to future tournaments.
After weeks of intense competition, the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2025 concluded with Gen.G once again emerging victorious, claiming their second consecutive title following a hard-fought series against T1. The Korean squad reflected on their win, strategic approach, thoughts on the upcoming 2025 League of Legends World Championship (LoL Worlds), and the satisfaction of securing revenge against their long-time rivals.
Gen.G now joins an elite group of teams to win MSI back-to-back, alongside SK Telecom T1 (2016–2017) and Royal Never Give Up (2021–2022). Chovy is the MVP of MSI 2025, solidifying his place as one of the tournament’s standout performers.

Gen.G on building up confidence to win all the matches and the MSI 2025
TheScore esports: [Chovy] This is your second international title. What does it mean to you to not only win it but also be named MVP of the tournament, especially after a series against T1, your domestic rivals, and one of the most dominant international teams in history?
GEN Chovy: I’m happy that we won the MSI title against T1, but I’m not trying to find a big meaning behind this result. I truly value the preparation and the hard work we put out during the MSI. These experiences led us to win in a hard series, and that experience allowed us to have confidence in ourselves, that we can make a comeback in tough situations.
The last time you failed to win an international event, it was against T1. Does this win have a special taste since you’ve finally gotten your revenge?
GEN Chovy: The last time we fell against T1 in an international tournament was in Worlds last year. We did beat them at MSI last year, but that doesn’t mean much. I feel we still need to get our revenge at Worlds.
GEN Ruler:Similar thought here. I think beating T1 at the LoL Worlds 2025 will feel like true revenge.

NaMEN: With this win, Gen.G automatically qualifies for the LoL Worlds 2025. Assuming you make it to the LCK Playoffs, I would like to hear from each player which team, from other regions, you would like to face in that tournament and why.
GEN Kiin:No one really comes to mind right now, we can beat all of the teams that we faced.
GEN Canyon: Same thoughts. This MSI taught me that every team is very, very strong, so I hope we can do a great preparation for Worlds and win it.
GEN Chovy:I’m not focused on any specific match-up at Worlds. I’m just excited and hopeful that we can overcome every team in our path and win the tournament.
GEN Ruler:I don’t want to face anyone. Every team is very strong.
GEN Duro:Same as Ruler. Every team is very strong, so I don’t want to face anyone.
Mais Esports: Ruler, in the previous conference, Gumayusi said he was dominated in the lane phase. What was your preparation, and how do you feel about your performance?
GEN Ruler:Looking back at the matchup, especially on the laning phase, even when we had even matchups, we did more than just go 50/50, so I think we did well today. Looking back at all of MSI, me and Duro, as a bot lane, were looking pretty competitive.
Duro, what was the key to your success at your first international tournament?
GEN Duro:I personally think that losing confidence is the end of me. I always try to stay confident, and I think I was able to keep this mentality thanks to the people around me who helped me so much.
