In an interview withGameSpotat CES 2015, Origin PC CEO KevinWasielewski confirmed the final version of Valve’s Steam Controller will be shown to the public at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco this March.
“They came out with the controller, then they got some user feedback, and they had to revamp it; they got some more user feedback and had to revamp it again,”said Wasielewski. “So they went through that like three or four times. And now their controller is finalized. So now they’re going to production and at GDC is when they’re going to announce more stuff.”

“Going to production” seems to imply we might see a Sega Saturn-esque ‘you’re able to buy it right now’ reveal the games industry has recently come to appreciate. Remember E3 last year? We got theBattlefield Hardlinebeta and that weirdDead Rising 3DLC as they were being announced.
If Valve is going into production a good two months before GDC, I wouldn’t be surprised if the controller’s release date coincided with the conference.
