Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct announced that games from handheld legends, the Nintendo Game Boy and GBA were coming to Switch.
On Feb. 8, the Nintendo Direct presentation revealed that classic Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games were coming to Nintendo Switch Online. The presentation delighted many, as games that had either been lost to time, or left dusty on shelf somewhere, would enter official digital libraries for the first time.
For a certain generation of gamer, the Nintendo Game Boy and Game Boy Advance are part of the irreplaceable nostalgia of their youth. The first hugely successful handheld console, the Game Boy put some classic games quite literally in the hands of kids and adults alike. Its successors the Game Boy Color, and eventually, Game Boy Advance, added titles to the handheld arsenal that are legendary.

If you have a Nintendo Switch Online membership, you can play the following games from Jun 25, 2025, for no additional cost, only as a download.
The following games were confirmed to be added to the Nintendo Switch Online membership at a later time. However, these might also be part of the Expansion Pack.
