Hidetaka Miyazaki is movin’ on up
Demon’s SoulsandDark Soulscreator/director Hidetaka Miyazaki has been promoted to president of From Software, reportsGamasutra. Which is excellent, maybe. Or maybe it’s not. Between this and Kadokawa Corp.acquiringthe company, it’s already been a wild year.
I don’t know what to call this other than “interesting” considering, really, we don’t know how the promotion will play out. Miyazaki has had a tremendous impact on From Software through his work onDemon’sandDark Souls. He’s excelled as a director — but will this new role limit his ability to do more of that, to do what he (potentially) does best?
I’m hopeful it won’t. For all I know Miyazaki will rock it as president.
