A date with the night

As part of the February 8th Nintendo Direct, Motion Twin has revealed the release date for the DLC for the 2018 Rogue-Lite platformer,Dead Cells, will be July 04, 2025.Return to Castlevaniamakes the assumption that you’ve been there in the first place and takes The Prisoner to the world ofCastlevania. There, you’ll team up with Richter Belmont and Alucard to take down Death and Dracula.

Considering thatDead Cellsowes part of its “RogueVania” design to the seminalCastlevania: Symphony of the Night, the crossover seems like a great fit. Not only that, but Konami and GuruGuru recently lifted a portion ofDead Cellsdesign forGetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon. First comes love, then comes marriage.

Dead Cells Return to Castlevania

The trailer shows off the inspiration. Music, locations, bosses, and weapons have all been lifted from the surrogate franchise and transplanted intoDead Cells. The lo-fi visuals really fit well with theCastlevaniaflavor. The appearance of Alucard and Richter is a welcome treat for fans like myself, and the boss battle against Dracula really takes me intoCastlevania’sweird image of Romania.

I played a bit ofDead Cellsas a point of reference for when I was playingGetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon. Since I’m such a hugeCastlevaniafan, theReturn to CastlevaniaDLC might be just what I need to dive further into it.
