Azazus drops Overwatch 2 Ashe rap and music video

Released on Jan. 25, the new Overwatch 2 Ashe rap begins with the character talking about how everyone needs a family because facing the world alone isn’t fair. The Family Ties music video then references Ashe’s past through some clever lyrics about how she was born into a wealthy family but rejected it.

“Sometimes your family is not the ones you share blood with, but the ones you shed blood with when you hold the crown.”

Azazusalso references how Ashe rebelled and formed the Deadlock Gang — a notorious group in the criminal underworld. The next line, “Cause my family will burn it down,” then indicates that Ashe has a found family now. This particulartheme of found familyis not only relevant to her, but also other Overwatch 2 heroes like Hazard.

“He’s a hero, but he’s also got a partner and a dog back home, a best friend, a mother figure, and the friends that he found.”

B.O.B., the omnic beside Ashe, is also present throughout the music video. According to Overwatch 2lore, B.O.B. used to be her family’s omnic butler. And from our experience playing the game, we know that Ashe’s voice lines make it clear that she genuinely cares about him.

Ashe and Cassidy’s relationship in Overwatch 2

The same, perhaps, cannot be said for Cole Cassidy. Ashe and Cassidy share a complicated history, and Azazus' music video and lyrics make several nods to this. After a chance meeting, the two characters committed a string of crimes together that led Ashe to choose the outlaw life and eventually create the Deadlock Gang. The gang’s heists caught the attention of Overwatch.

Later, Cassidy joined Overwatch’s covert-ops division — Blackwatch. Then, afterOverwatch fell apart, Cassidy encountered Ashe and the Deadlock Gang again. However, he wasn’t quite on their side and stole Ashe’s bike.

Azazus' Family Ties music video includes several more Easter eggs for those who love Overwatch 2loreand the game itself. Just a few examples include Ashe’s “it’s my way” voice line, the Route 66 map, her ultimate’s voice line, and a faceoff against Widowmaker.

The lyrics and clips also showcase The Viper, which is Ashe’s semi-automatic rifle. One of the lines goes, “Deadlock rider, there ain’t no antidote when your partner struck by this viper.”

Then, in a nod to Ashe’s gameplay mechanics, the video features a fight against Pharah, whose flying abilities are no match for The Viper as a hitscan weapon. The video also includes a reference to Pharah being Ana’s daughter and Ana’s Sleep Dart ability.
