Apex Legendsplayers are still discovering just how everything in Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale game works. Whether it’s simple aspects of gameplay like how a weapon sounds or something more complex likebunny hopping, there’s a depth to theApex Legendsexperience that few have fully explored. Today, one player discovered what it’s like to get “booped” mid-air by a drop ship that had just finished respawning a teammate.
A Redditor by the name of HodorTheDoorMan posted his clip earlier today from a match a bit more than halfway over, with only 8 squads remaining. Hodor’s team begins moving outwards from the circle and towards an enemy squad 100m away, but Hodor decides to get a bird-eye view andzipline upto a balloon into the sky. Little do they know that at the same time they’re rising up towards the balloon, another team is having their eliminated teammate revived nearby.
The results of Hodor turning toward the firefight mid-air and getting bumped by the drop ship launches the player far into the sky and gives them a huge amount of momentum that even their jet pack can’t oppose. They’re doomed even as they begin the second half of the arc, falling back towards the earth. Hodor ties to fight it, but ultimately gives in and is carried off the edge ofthe game’s map.
It’s quite possible that Respawn Entertainment will see this as a bug. Getting bumped by a drop ship is likely a realistic scenario thatApex Legends' physics should account for, but a drop ship giving the player momentum that can’t be fought back against is somewhat extreme. On the other hand, perhaps Respawn will laugh just like everyone else and decide that players should just avoid the situation altogether.
To watch the full video of Hodor’s journey, check out hispost on Reddit. It’s worth watching just to see the “Holster weapons to run faster” message pop up as they’re plummeting into the water beyond the map. Also, for what it’s worth, Hodor confirmed that his team went on to win the match without him.
Apex Legendsis available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
